The entrepreneur will be provided with a table and a couple of chairs in which they can set up a demonstration of their work. At this table, the Entrepreneur will interact with the people attending the event in a “trade-show” like setting. It’s a chance to network and to talk about the work they are doing.

Basic Guidelines:

  • Tell Your Story: Provide a story by which the idea has either become or is becoming a reality; include the genesis of the idea and the path to bringing that idea to reality; there will be many participants, so be prepared to do this a multiple of times
  • It’s Not a Sales Pitch: This is not meant to sell the product or idea to the guest
  • Seek and Give Advice: Network with participants – look to offer insights on how the journey has been navigated; also seek advice should the participant so offer
  • Interact: Actively engage with each other and the participants; this is a three-hour event, so plan to staff the table accordingly; make time to interact with other entrepreneurs and participants in the Hall; go see a presentation or two; seek to network and make long-term contacts

What should you bring?

  • Whatever you believe is necessary and appropriate to demonstrate your company. You’ll have a table to put your boards/materials/demo/etc.
  • Create something that is eye-catching and draws attendees to your table.

What should you expect?

  • As you draw people to your table, get ready to tell your story multiple times.
  • Look to meet people and network.
  • Most importantly, expect to show off your accomplishments!

Presenters

Those presenting will have a separate room with a projector so they can give Participants a 10-minute showcase of their work. It will give ten pre-selected number of entrepreneurs deeper exposure to attendees and also stimulate dialogue. Attendees will be encouraged to interact, seeking additional information from entrepreneurs and also providing thoughts and insight on how to help the entrepreneur improve/grow their idea or business.

The guidelines and additional information for presenters are outlined below. If you have any questions, please contact Gloria Bell at at 267-909-2308 or redstaplerconsulting@gmail.com.

Presenters Basic Guidelines:

  • Strict Time Limit: You have 10 minutes to tell your story; use the guidelines below to help form your message; it is suggested you practice your presentation; if you have time, there are some other suggested topics for discussion.
  • Tell Your Story: Provide a presentation by which the idea has either become or is becoming a reality; include the genesis of the idea and the path to bringing that idea to reality.
  • Format of the Story: This presentation should generally reflect the following Who Are You? What is Your Idea/Work: Give background on you and what it is you do – the product, the service, and the people/businesses you serve. Background on the Idea: How you came up with it; why are you doing what it is you are doing; what inspired you to take on this risk and become an entrepreneur. Bringing the idea to life: What did you do you bring this idea to reality – how did you approach it? Who did you work with or reach out to? The future: What’s next for you – where do you see both yourself and your company in both the near and distant future.
  • Thank Them: Thank the participant for their time and ask them to approach you with any questions or if they want to talk with you further about your project; shamelessly offer them the opportunity to network with you and to establish a long-term contact.
  • If You Have Time: Here are some additional topics you can include: Hurdles & Lessons learned: What hurdles did you face or are you facing? How did you overcome them? If you are still facing hurdles, what are they and how are you approaching them? Any lessons learned? What are they and what can the audience learn from them? Successes: What success stories can you tell? Is your product in use? A patent filed? A new major client? What is it that has led a feeling of success in your endeavor.
  • It’s Not a Sales Pitch: This is not meant to sell the product or idea to the participant; it is also not meant to pitch to any one segment of attendees (e.g. investors).
